Frequently Asked Questions
Is PoolHost free?
Yes. PoolHost is free right now, with no limit on events or players and no credit card. You create a free account and go.
How does double elimination work in a pool tournament?
Every player has to lose twice to be out. After a first loss you drop to the losers side and keep playing. The last unbeaten player meets the losers side winner in the final, and if the unbeaten player loses that match, a deciding rematch is played. PoolHost pairs every round for you.
How do players join a pool tournament on PoolHost?
Players scan the QR code on your screen or open your join link, then type their name. They need no app and no account. You can also type names in yourself.
Can I show the bracket on a TV at the bar?
Yes. Open the TV display on any screen with a browser and it shows the current matches with table numbers and the standings, updating live as you enter winners.
Which formats does PoolHost support?
Double elimination, single elimination and round robin. Double elimination is the default because it is what most bar and pool room tournaments use.
Does PoolHost handle handicaps, ratings or entry fees?
No. PoolHost has no handicap or rating system and never handles money. Collect entry fees and pay prizes the way you do now.
